Welcome to another season with the Striders. We are an all women’s running club serving runners in the metrowest area of Boston. The club was founded in 2004 and it is hard to believe that we have been running, racing, inspiring and supporting each other for almost 20 years! That’s a lot of laps around the track and miles on the roads!

We continually look forward to growing the club and welcoming new members! Please join us for a trial run! (pun intended!) We meet weekly on Wednesdays at the Wellesley High School Track at 8:45am* for warmups. Our fantastic coach, Kathy Franey Fleming crafts 3 different speed workouts, all broken up into intervals – Long: approximately 3 miles, Short: approximately 2 miles and Fitness: typically a mile to 1.5 miles. We have something for everyone! If you would like to try us out, you are more than welcome to drop in any Wednesday. But please note, on the first Wednesday of the month we also host a coffee social afterwards around 10am. Great way to get to try the workout AND meet our members in a more relaxed setting.

Personally, I have been a member since 2012 and absolutely love it! Back then I was looking for training partners to motivate me and train with for the Boston Marathon. Now, I am running for fitness and fun. I am always challenged to run a bit faster and further when running with others. The bonus for me is that these women are friends on and off the track. Many of us meet up to run and socialize on other days of the week. We also get together to support the community, volunteering and running as teams in the Love Lane “Run for Love,” the Wellesley Turkey Trot 5K, the Cambridge Classic racing series and more.

And to steal some words from sustainer member, Stephanie H., “We’re all grateful for the sense of community running brings. What could be better than doing something we enjoy and forming friendships along the way? We look forward to seeing you at a weekly workout, on training runs, therapy runs and joyful runs. (And bad runs, because even a bad run is better than no run at all).” SO TRUE!

*January – March we we will be INDOORS at the Babson College Track.

Summer months we move warmups to 8:30am to avoid the heat.

A few simple requests for each workout:

  1. Place your belongings off of the track either on the turf or the surface inside of the track lines.
  2. Bring your own water.
  3. Have fun!!
