Coach Kathy will continue to post workouts every week-Let’s stay connected!

Dear SSRC members,

I hope that everyone is doing well during these challenging times. Even though we can’t meet as a club right now, Coach Kathy will continue to post workouts for everyone to view. These can be done on the roads, trails, treadmill or even adapted to a stationary bike or elliptical. If you have any questions about the workouts, please let us know. I certainly look forward to checking the website with eager anticipation every Wednesday morning, almost like opening a present! This will help us all stay connected until we can meet again to run on the Wellesley High Track.

Let’s also stay connected through conversations on our google list, emails, texts, phone calls or video chats. This is an amazing group of supportive women: athletically, socially and emotionally and we encourage our members to reach out to each other during this challenging time. Please share stories, funny anecdotes, tell us about your workouts and runs, ask for help, advice and anything else you want to talk about.

Be well- take care of yourselves, your family, elders, neighbors, friends and pets. Keep running, smiling, laughing and supporting each other. Remember, we are all in this together!!

SSRC Workouts Suspended 3/17/2020

SSRC members,

We have suspended our workouts until further notice.  The Town of Wellesley has closed all parks, playgrounds and playing fields which includes the high school outdoor track.  This is to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Below is the notice from the Town of Wellesley:

Parks, Playgrounds and Playing Fields Closed: All Town open space areas are closed for activities until further notice. Playground equipment is not cleaned and may harbor viral material for many days. Residents are asked to exercise, walk dogs and enjoy other activities individually and not congregate. Fields and parks should not be used for pickup games of any kind. Families and children should not use play equipment. Wellesley’s trail system and larger reservations remain open, but when encountering others, please respect social distancing guidelines (6 feet).

Kathy will have weekly workouts posted for us to use on the roads until we can resume our outdoor workouts.  The workouts will be available on our website each Wednesday.

As Sue said in her previous post, “It is imperative to take care of yourselves and your family, get plenty of rest, eat well and continue to exercise alone or in small groups.  We are all in this together.  Stay healthy and keep running!”

SSRC track workout-3/18/20

Good afternoon SSRC members,

We will begin holding our weekly track workout outdoors at the Wellesley High Outdoor track on 3/18/20. This date is a few weeks earlier than anticipated, but it is necessary to follow these guidelines to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in our communities.  When we meet on Wednesday, we will be careful to practice social distancing during the workout and to reduce any physical contact between members.  By now, everyone knows what this means.  Please bring your own water bottles and hand sanitizer as well.

We will meet as usual for the dynamic warmup at 9:00, a quick meeting and Kathy will explain the workout of the day.  We will keep the workout groups small.

It is imperative to take care of yourselves and your family, get plenty of rest, eat well and continue to exercise alone or in small groups.  We are all in this together. If anyone has further thoughts or suggestions, please let us know. If anyone has any questions, please ask.

Stay healthy everyone and keep running during this very challenging time in our world.

Babson Indoor Workout Information

We had a great turnout last week at our first indoor workout of the winter season! For those of you that missed it, here are some things to know.

Please enter through the new facility entrance and tell the front desk staff that you are running with SSRC. They will direct you to the track entrance.  The track is the same, but getting to the track from the new facility is slightly different.  You can exit the track using the doors we’ve always used in previous years.  You just have to enter through the new entrance.

Please park in the large lot on the opposite side of the road of the track entrance (this is the same parking lot as in previous years).  We do not need parking passes at this point.

We have the track rented from 8:30 to 10:30. We will begin our dynamic warmups at 9:00, followed by our meeting with the group and Coach Kathy will outline the workout of the day.

You can pay the winter track fee at:

November 27 Workout

We are canceling the Wednesday November 27th workout due to pre-Thanksgiving preparations and many people are racing on Thanksgiving and also traveling.
The workout is posted on the Weekly Workouts page.
See you all next Wednesday for our usual track workout at the Wellesley High school track at 9:00 AM. Remember to bring your books for Carla and Mary to collect.  Also, please sign up for Winter Track on the Runsignup page if you will be running indoors at Babson with us (see the previous post for information!).
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Kathleen reports that Susie placed 3rd, Women’s Overall in the Bill’s Spooky 5K in Newton this past weekend! It was a big and fast field for a 5K plus the course had several hills. CONGRATULATIONS SUSIE! Colleen and Annie also were there running with a large Strivers contingent.
